Overcoming the Fears and Negative Feelings Attributed to Weight Loss

Not all of us may be aware that losing weight is also associated with fear. Such constructive process seems to not have anything to do with fear. But, both positive and negative feelings can be caused by weight loss. The positive ones are more visible and evident. These favorable emotions include feeling better, becoming more energetic, looking better and more. However, the negative emotions should also be made known to us.
Gaining weight is not all about eating. It has a wider scope to include even the cause of overeating. Gaining minimal weight is usually traced to poor eating and exercise habits. But, there should be something major when it comes to gaining large weight. If you gain weight, you might feel that you are wrapped up in a camouflage because you will no longer be that visible in the society. Internal fears or traumas that may have stimulated this condition should be understood and analyzed. There may be existing personal issues that need to be resolved.
Aside from the explanation on your weight gain, your feelings also become more crucial as you advance in your efforts to lose weight. Time and patience will be necessary. Restarting may also be called for. Your motivation may later fade and you may already need some help to recover. If you do not fall off, you may engage into attempts that would push you to fall off. These circumstances may fall under the same umbrella of fear.
If you can relate with these issues, these volatile emotions should be addressed first before they can pull you down. To ease your anxieties and to help you get back on the path, here are some proactive steps you can take.
1. Look for a support system. You can get your own personal trainer who can empathize with your problems and is willing to help you be better. Motivational strategies and techniques may be implemented by your personal trainer so you will learn to combat your fears and will no longer entertain the idea of destructing yourself. Not only movie stars should have their own personal trainers. These personal trainers are also open to the public. You can ask for referrals from your local gym.
2. If you do not consider the idea of getting a personal trainer, you can partner with a friend who has already successfully gone through a loss of weight. You can do some exercises with this friend every day. You can also learn from each other's food journals. In that way, your friend will also be responsible in checking your daily food intake.
3. Write your own daily journals. If you repress your emotions, you may end up unable to control the emotions anymore. A thought can start a lot of things. Changing your habits will be easier once you gain control over your thoughts. You can jot down your feelings and fears. Writing can provide you with an opportunity to understand your inner feelings and release your negative emotions.
4. Engage into affirmations. Once your negative feelings have been released, affirmation is the next step. A positive turnaround should fill the gap. Your mind should dwell on something favorable.
5. Take time to relax and be quiet. We are often in a hurry that we even tend to forget to rest. In your day, allocate at least 15 minutes to just stay still and unwind from your mental fatigue. This may involve more effort on your part. During this time, any thoughts that can occupy your mind should not be entertained. You should cleanse yourself from the mental garbage. You will learn to take control of your day once you have learned to rest.
Any major life changes would always include fear. Understanding this fear will put you into a position that will help this emotion be addressed and overcome. So you can move forward, you have to challenge any feelings that can endanger your growth.

3. Be flexible. The plan you commit to will likely need to be tweaked and you will find ways that you can improve your results if you have a flexible attitude. A big problem I see in dieters is a lack of willingness to adjust their initial plan.
4. Know that you are worth it. You might be working against some long standing emotions and thought patterns when it comes to reaching your ideal weight. Put the past behind you and know that there is no good reason why you should not live in a healthy and fit body.
